Chris's Crosses,
Christian Family Life is devoted to providing a special interest
website with a focus on fun, family. Especially parents of
children with special needs.
As the parents of a child with
special needs, we understand how hard it can be. Our son
has an inoperable
Arterio-Venous Malformation (AVM) in the center of
his brain. He suffered a stroke at the age of eleven. He
required round the clock assistance. He attended a
children's rehab facility six hours a day. He is
functional now but among the list of problems he
suffers, he has tremors in his arms and legs, slowed
speech, uneven gait, lack of focus, trouble
concentrating and a lack of motivation, and that is the
short list.
We also have an adopted child
with some emotional issues, presenting with the signs of
ADD/ADHD and oppositional behaviors.
It is our goal to build a website
community that offers resources for parents challenged
with parenting children having disabilities and issues
pertaining to stroke, traumatic brain injury, health
issues, mental issues, development issues,
ADD, ADHD, impulse control, oppositional child
behavior and so on.
Please read the "Our
Story" link to find out more about who we are and
why we do this.
ADHD
(Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity
Condition) is a neurobiological
condition
seen as a developmentally
incompatible impulsivity, attention, and
in a few cases, hyperactivity
beginning in childhood, "typically"
by the time they are 7. Children with AD/HD often
have a 2-4 year developmental delay and frequently have
other coexisting conditions. To be
informed they have AD/HD, individuals must show
at any rate 6
of the traits in either or
both of the categories underneath.
Characteristicsshould bemore frequent or severe than
in other children a similar
age. Signsshould be present for
in any case six months.

Autism
Autism is a complex developmental disability
that typically appears during the first
three years of life. It is a brain
condition that
impactsan individual's
ability to convey,
form bonds with
others, and respond appropriately to
the surroundings.
People with autism are not physically
disabled and 'look'
similar toanyone
without the disability. Those with
high-functioning autism may have speech and
intelligence whole.
Others can be
mentally disabled, mute, or have serious
language
delays. Autism may
get them to be
seem closed off and shut
down. Some seem locked into
repetitive behaviors. People with autism
are inclined to
share certain social,
conversation, motor, and sensory
issues thathave a bearing on
their behavior.

Blind and Vision Impaired
Blindness: The
inability to see. The
restrictive
of one or more of
the elementaryattributes
of the eye: visual acuity, dark adaptation, color vision, or
peripheral vision. These may
be a
consequence of EYE DISEASES; OPTIC NERVE DISEASES;
VISUAL PATHWAY diseases; OCCIPITAL LOBE diseases; OCULAR
MOTILITY DISORDERS; and other conditions.
The problem
of lacking visual perception
attributable
to physiological or neurological
aspects.
The're
over 50 definitions of blindness worldwide. The World Health
Establishment
definition of blindness is
under
3/60 in the better seeing eye. This
implies that
the better seeing eye cannot read the top letter on the
Snellen visual acuity chart at three meters.
Cerebral palsy is
a disorderthe result
of
injury to the brain, usually occurring before,
during, or shortly after birth. "Cerebral"
relates to the brain and "palsy" to a
conditionof motion
or posture.
It's not progressive. Prenatal
reasons for
cerebral palsy include illness during pregnancy,
premature
delivery, and
absence of oxygen supply to
the infantas a
consequence of premature separation of the
placenta, an awkward birth position, labor that
is
extensivetoo long
or is too abrupt, and interference with the umbilical
cord. Other causes
can berelated to
, RH or A-B-O blood type incompatibility between
mothers and
fathers, infection of the
mom with viral diseases
like
German measles in early pregnancy, and
micro-organisms that attack the newborn's
central
nervous system.
About 2 - 3 infants out of every
1000 live births will have some degree of hearing loss
at birth. Hearing loss form in
children who had normal hearing as infants. The loss
can take place in one or both
ears, and could be mild,
moderate, severe, or profound. Profound hearing loss is
what the majority of people
call deafness.
The phrase developmental
disability means a serious,
chronic disability of someone 5
years old or older that:
• is as a result of a mental or
physical impairment or combination of mental and physical
impairments;
• is manifested prior to theindividual attains age 22;
• is probable indefinitely;
The're three major types of Down Syndrome. Trisomy 21 is the presence of extra genetic material on the 21st pair of chromosomes resulting from an anomaly in cell division during increase in the egg or sperm or during fertilization. About 95% have Trisomy 21.
Epilepsy is
an indication of a neurological
condition which causes a
malfunction of the electrical signals that control
the brain. It is seen as a
seizures. A seizure may last any
place from few seconds to several minutes. A
seizure appears as a
brief stare, an unique
movement of the body, a change of
cognizance, or a
convulsion. The two classes
are partial (this is when the seizure activity
begins in a certain spot
in the brain) and generalized (this is when the
seizure activity has a bearing
onthe entire
brain with no obvious beginning
point). A physicianwill in all probability
order an EEG (a test where wires are glued to the
scalp to major recording on the
electricity presented with
off by the brain). The majority of the are :

Truth Revealed: Biblical Foundations for the Christian
Faith
Kathy Howard, a minister of adult education, has been
teaching adults the Bible
for more than 20 years, both in church and through
well-attended community Bible
study groups.
Spiritual seekers are looking for more than
life experiences that continually fail to
satisfy. This 12-session study presents the
basic beliefs of Christianity in a way that is
engaging, personal, thoroughly biblical, and
ultimately satisfying. Through His Word, God
makes Himself known to those who seek Him.
